Who I Coach

Strength coaching built around you

Whether you're returning to training, building strength at any stage of life, or navigating changes like perimenopause or menopause, I'll build a plan around how you actually feel and perform. Women and men are both welcome, and every programme is adapted to the individual.

Returning to training
New to the gym or coming back after a break? We start where you are and build steadily, with technique coached so it feels safe and manageable.
Building strength at any age
Never lifted before, or want to get stronger for sport, work or everyday life? We build a progressive plan around your goals, at a pace that suits you.
Strength in midlife
Sleep, stress and energy shift through midlife. Sessions flex around that, and your progress is tracked so you can see it.
Perimenopause & menopause
If your body is responding to training differently, we adjust load and recovery around how you feel and keep building strength steadily.
Busy professionals
Limited time and a changing schedule? Hybrid and remote coaching fit training around work, travel and family life.

I'm a personal trainer, not a medical professional. I don't diagnose or treat conditions, and I'll point you to your GP where that's the right next step.

Why I Coach the Way I Do

I'm Jags, a Level 3 qualified personal trainer. Before coaching, I worked as a data analyst, report developer and supply chain analyst, and completed an MBA. That work was about cutting through noise to find what actually moves the numbers, and explaining it clearly. It's how I coach: Evidence, not overwhelm.

I back that up with CPD training in gut microbiome and human health, and in the menstrual cycle in exercise and training, plus a foundation knowledge of how stress, hormone and metabolic systems interact with training. I translate the research into plain language and practical steps, with no fear-mongering, no gadget-worship and no finger-pointing.

My belief is simple: your body tends to do its best work when your training, food, sleep and stress support it. Most quick fixes chase symptoms rather than causes, so we track your training data, adjust to how you actually feel, and keep the plan practical.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

I coach women and men of all ages and experience levels, including people returning to training, those in midlife, and women in perimenopause or menopause. Every programme is adapted to the individual.
Instead of relying on guesswork, I track working loads, set volume, fatigue markers, and cycle feedback. This provides clear data trends so we can systematically adjust workout intensity and build strength safely.
My approach to gut health is practical: gradually building up fibre, eating a wider variety of plants, and getting the basics right, like hydration, sleep and regular meals. This is informed by my CPD training in Gut Microbiome and Human Health, which covered the gut-brain axis, lifestyle factors and applying the research with clients. Gut research is still developing and people respond differently, so my advice stays general and practical. I don't diagnose or treat digestive conditions, and if you have persistent symptoms or a diagnosed condition, I'll point you to your GP or a registered dietitian.
Responses to the cycle vary a lot from person to person, and the research on training by phase is mixed. Informed by my CPD training in the menstrual cycle in exercise and training, I don't follow a rigid phase-by-phase plan. Instead, we track how you actually feel and perform, and adjust loads and recovery around that.
For anything in person (1:1 sessions, the 12-Week Strength Foundations programme and the in-person sessions in Hybrid Coaching) you need an active PureGym Stratford-upon-Avon membership, as sessions take place there. Find the gym on Google Maps. Remote Coaching does not need a PureGym membership: you can train at any gym or at home, and I'll build the programme around the equipment you have.
If you prefer direct in-person coaching (with a PureGym Stratford-upon-Avon membership), the 1:1 In-Person option is ideal. For structured online programming, Remote Coaching works brilliantly. If you have a targeted 3-month goal, choose the 12-Week Strength Foundations programme, or choose Hybrid Coaching if you need a flexible blend of in-person and remote.
In-person sessions can be moved or cancelled free of charge with at least 24 hours' notice. Sessions cancelled with less notice, or missed without notice, count as used and are charged in full or deducted from your pack. If you arrive late, your session still finishes at the booked time so the next client isn't affected, and if you are more than 15 minutes late it counts as a missed session. For the 12-Week Strength Foundations programme, a missed session counts as delivered, and the pause policy below still applies. If you are ill or have an emergency, tell me as soon as you can and I'll consider rescheduling without charge. Session packs are valid from your first session for 8 weeks (4 sessions), 16 weeks (8 sessions) or 24 weeks (12 sessions). Remote coaching runs month to month, so you can stop before your next billing date.
I give general, practical nutrition guidance based on your food diary, informed by my CPD training in Evidence Based Nutrition for Personal Trainers with MNU. I don't write medical diets or personalised meal plans, and if you have a medical condition I'll point you towards your GP or a registered dietitian. Food diaries are not suitable for everyone, so if you have a history of disordered eating, please tell me before we start and we will leave them out.
The 12-week programme is a commitment, because results come from consistency. You can pause once for up to one month, with at least 7 days' notice (or as soon as possible in an emergency). Your remaining sessions and instalments move back by the same amount of time. If you can't train for medical reasons such as illness, injury or pregnancy, or because of a family emergency, we'll agree a longer pause or a fair refund for unused sessions, with a doctor's note where relevant.
In most cases you have a legal right to cancel within 14 days of signing up. If you've already started sessions in that time, you only pay for what you've used. If I have to cancel or can't deliver a session, I'll reschedule it at a time that suits you. If we can't find a suitable time, I'll refund the unused amount.
